Pros: natural ingredients, no oily film on the face in the morning, pleasant aroma
Cons: can cause allergy, clogged pores, comedogenic

Hey!

For a long time I was dreaming of the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Once I tried a sachet of it, I immediately fell in love with it. Even after the first use I saw such a massive result that I couldn’t wait for the day to buy the full-sized product. In vain...

My skin is of combination type, prone to clogging. I know that it’s suicide to apply oils to my skin, yet the manufacturer claims that the FORMULA OF THE PRODUCT IS UNIQUE and will FLATTER ANY SKIN TYPE. Well, at least this factor should have put me on the guard that the product was probably a waste of money.

Product claims:

Midnight Recovery Concentrate restores and replenishes for smoother, healthier-looking skin—all while you sleep. This powerful formula works at night when skin is most receptive to repairing itself from daily aggressors. A blend of oils—including naturally-derived lavender, evening primrose, and squalene—to deliver essential hydration and promote a softer, smoother, brighter complexion.

Packaging:

Dark blue glass bottle. I find the screw-on dropper very convenient to use. I can’t even think of a more convenient packaging, as this one is just amazing. The dropper is also nice and gives out the right amount of product.

Scent:

I can feel the smell of essential oils in the product. On my skin the smell doesn’t stay long and vanishes quickly. The sales girls at the Kiehl’s corner advised me to smell the scent of these oils before going to bed as they relax us really well.

Consistency:

Liquid oil that quickly absorbs leaving no oily film on the face. In general, the consistency is pleasant and beautifully fights dryness and tightening feelings.

How to apply:

I apply a few drops of the product on my face before going to bed, avoiding the eye area. I’ve tried two ways of application of this concentrate: rubbed it in my palms thoroughly before application and then massaged it in. And the other way that I tried is to apply the product straight from the dropper to my face. And you know, since my skin is combination and on the oily side, it likes the first way of application more.

Effect and results:

As I’ve already said, after the first use my skin was great. It felt as though it was shining with health. The discoloration disappeared and in general my complexion was even and better. I’ve never had such a velvety to the touch feeling with any other cosmetic product.

But, I guess that this stunning effect was gained at the right moment when my skin was dehydrated and needed a primary moisturizer and the product worked wonders as express therapy.

Within a week of use, I noticed that the product started to clog my pores, and hence made me break out. And now, I don’t believe that there’s any oil product that doesn’t clog pores. Oil is oil and no matter what technique they use or how they name their product - if the product is oil infused, it will clog pores. + there are comedogenic oils in the ingredients like Sunflower Seed oil and Jojoba seed oil. These are two of the most comedogenic oils.

So, I use this product very rarely and only once a week, as if I use it often, it really clogs my pores.

And of course, the seasons affect the result the most: for winter/fall season, this product might be good, but I think that for spring/summer, it’ll be too heavy and weigh down the skin, so I wouldn't recommend it.

******************************************************

I give this product three stars, even though it’s so controversial for me. The effect after the first use was so amazing that I bought a full-sized product and made my skin look and feel worse.

It isn’t a product for everybody but still, I presume it’ll be fine for dry skin. I don’t recommend you to buy the full-sized product at once. Try the smallest size or a sachet first and use it at least twice to see the dynamical process.

The product is very much hyped about but I actually don’t understand why. Well, after the first use, the product gave me so much hope!

Thanks for your attention and see you soon!!!
