Hi everyone!
Lately I’ve become addicted to Korean overnight treatments. I decided to buy a few more items from this category, and my choice fell on the famous Water Sleeping Mask from Laneige.
I’ve been seeing this advertised for a few years now. I decided to order a sample first, and I don’t regret it because this mask turned out to be completely useless.
Appearance:
Since this is a sample I don’t think I should waste your time describing it. I can only say that this is a little jar with a screw top.
Ingredients:
Water, Butylene Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Cyclohexasiloxane, Trehalose, Sodium Hyaluronate, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Root Extract, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit Extract, Beta-Glucan, Chenopodium Quinoa Seed Extract, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Magnesium Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Calcium Chloride, Potassium Alginate, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Polysorbate 20, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Propanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Stearyl Behenate, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, HYDROXYPROPYL BISPALMITAMIDE MEA, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Alcohol, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Tromethamine, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, CI 42090
There are so many silicones and other chemical stuff in it.
Consistency:This mask is a transparent white gel.
It has a pretty potent smell that reminds me of a deodorant or air freshener.
The mask applies in a thin layer.
It absorbs within a few minutes.
My thoughts:
I can’t figure out why this mask is so popular. It doesn’t provide any moisture. It just dries on my skin, and the silicones make it visually even.
I’m not surprised, though. There is nothing among the ingredients that could hydrate skin. Of course, the mask doesn’t work. After drying, it feels tight on my skin.
This can be used as a final step of the skincare routine in order to “seal” all the previous products, or as a makeup primer.
I’m glad I bought a sample. I don’t know what I would have done with a full-size tube.
What surprises me the most is the price: about $25 for a jar. I wouldn’t pay even $5 for this.
Not recommended. You’d better use a regular night cream.
