Hi people!

For a really long time I was longing to get to know the Weleda products. And recently, while ordering some stuff online, I decided to add this product to the cart too. Later, I understood that I was right to do it, as the product turned out to be really universal, and especially suitable for winter-time. So, my review today is about the Weleda Skin Food.

WELEDA SKIN FOOD. AN INDULGENT MOISTURIZING CREAM TO REPLENISH DRY SKIN.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Price: $ 12.84

Package Quantity: 2.5 oz (71 g)

Animal cruelty free

PRODUCT PROMISES:

They claim that this product is universal, which is great for your skin and even hair.

Nourishing cream packed with plant extracts and essential oils

Deeply moisturises to treat dry skin

Used by models, movie stars and beauty specialists

Weleda Skin Food is ideal for very dry skin, areas of tight or cracked skin, or any areas in need of a little extra care. It can be used as a protective cream in harsh weather, and is a great choice if you spend time outdoors; particularly over winter months.

Skin Food is made with organic sunflower seed oil and extracts of wild pansy, chamomile, calendula and rosemary extract to moisturise, soothe and calm. This is a great remedy for dry, tight skin in need of extra help. Enjoy the delicate fragrance of refreshing essential oils including sweet orange and lavandulae.

They promise a lot! And no matter how strange it may sound, but the product does everything that promises. I want to say that I used it differently, and the product is great in every way.

Weleda Skin Food feeds thirsty skin with intense nourishment and hydration. The ultra rich all-over body cream combats stubborn dryness that can occur on your hands, feet and elbows. Essential fatty acids along with vitamin E moisturize and soften while organic pansy calms irritation due to dry skin. Organic calendula flower extract gently cares for your skin, aiding repair and restoration.

A little goes a long way, so apply sparingly. This very rich cream is best applied to the face by gently patting on, so as to avoid dragging the skin. Elsewhere on the body, gently smooth into the skin until the cream is absorbed. To deeply nourish hard working, dry hands: apply liberally, cover with gloves and leave overnight.

HOW TO USE:

Apply a small amount of Skin Food to dry or rough skin as needed and massage into the skin until the cream is absorbed. To deeply nourish hard-working, dry hands liberally apply the cream on the hands, cover with cotton gloves and leave on overnight.

INGREDIENTS:

The ingredients are 100% natural. It’s my first product ever with natural ingredients only.

Water (Aqua), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Lanolin, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Beeswax (Cera Alba), Alcohol, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Glycerin, Limonene*, Viola Tricolor Extract, Fragrance (Parfum)*, Hydrolyzed Beeswax, Sorbitan Olivate, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Arginine, Zinc Sulfate, Linalool*, Geraniol*, Citral*, Coumarin*. *from natural essential oils

THE PACKAGING:

It’s very sound. Initially, the tube was packed in a carton box with some very useful information written on. But unfortunately I’ve thrown it away, and don’t have a photo of it.

The cream itself is in an aluminum tube of green color. Honestly, for quite a while already, I haven’t seen these aluminum tubes.

On the tube there’s not much of the information given, and it’s all in English.

The cream has a screw top.

The small pump tip was initially sealed.

CONSISTENCY AND COLOR

The product has a very thick consistency, which is difficult to take out, by the way. It spreads like a thick ointment on my skin. It takes some time for the product to soak in. For me it’s an advantage, as I usually massage my skin before going to bed.It has a creamy yellowish color.

THE SCENT:

The scent of the product is very pleasant for me. It’s not at all off-putting, a bit muted, I’d say. It smells of herbs and meadow flowers. This scent makes me feel relaxed, that’s why I love using it before going to bed.

MY IMPRESSIONS of the Weleda Skin Food

In a few words, I’m absolutely delighted with this product. I don’t use it everyday, only a couple of times a week. I use it only on the skin which tends to be dry and needs moisture, I mean my hands, feet and elbows.

Sinking time depends on how dry your skin is. The drier the skin, the faster the cream will sink in. During summer time I was using the cream for my feet only.

Now, I use it 1-2 times a week, and apply on my hands and feet. Moreover, I use it as a SOS-product if my hands become weather-beaten (sometimes it happens if I forget to wear my gloves), and this cream saves them immediately, leaving my hands with no feeling of dryness, tightness or any discomfort even after the first use.

This product turned out to be ideal in case of emergency for me, when I desperately need to moisturize, nourish and hydrate my skin.

I heard that only natural oils can nourish the skin well enough. But, on my skin, they don’t work. I tried some Shea nut and macadamia oils.

Shea nut butter didn’t want to sink in at all, and my attempts to make it turned vain. I used to apply a bit of that oil nightly, but in the morning it would all end up as a greasy film, which I couldn't help but wash off immediately. And of course, there wasn’t any result seen.

In comparison with Shea nut, the macadamia oil soaked in better and even gave some results, but it wouldn't do anything with any severe hands problems. I could see the result if I used it constantly every day. But, I don't have time for that, as sometimes I need the result immediately.

This Weleda cream gives the results once applied. If I apply this product nightly, in the morning I get soft, velvet and ideally nourished skin.

Even if I wash my hand with soap, I can still see the result. Besides, if used regularly (1-2 times a week), the problem of dry skin disappears itself. Which automatically means that the product has the long-lasting effect.

No matter what season it is, summer or winter, I prefer to use different nourishing and moisturising products. In summer I use the products for moisture 5 days a week and 2 days for nourishing. As for winter, it becomes 50/50, I mean I interchange nourishing and moisturising products. Once more, I want to highlight that Weleda cream is nourishing.

And once more, the product sinks in not very quickly and it’s difficult to spread on the skin. But, for the ultimate result which it gives, I’m ready to forgive that.

And what’s more, this cream can be used as a nourishing lip balm, if it happens that you don’t have any near. It makes my lips a bit glowy, sinks in in 2 hours or so, leaving comforting feelings after.

One more big advantage for me is that the product is universal and easy to take with. Every week, my family and I visit our parents in the countryside. I have two children and they are both very small. Can you imagine how much stuff we take with us? If I had to pack a hand cream, foot cream, a couple of lip balms and not to forget the cream for the parched skin, can you imagine the weight and size of all these products together? And instead all of them, I just take this tube of Weleda cream and save the space, as well as my husband’s health who just has to carry out all the suitcases.

Overall, advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages:

  • versatile product
  • it’s very economical, because of not everyday use
  • beautifully scented
  • great natural ingredients
  • no greasy film after sinking in
  • long-lasting effect
  • the seen result even after the first use
  • great nourishing and hydration of the skin

Disadvantages:

  • the product is quite pricey (but at the same time, it’s very economical and provides with great results)
  • inconvenient packaging (it becomes rather difficult to take out the right amount of the product that I need)

Sum up: I’m pretty delighted with this product, moreover, I've never used such a good product for nourishing my skin (even including natural oils). I’ll definitely continue getting to know the Weleda products better. And as for this cream, I highly recommend trying it, especially for winter season!
