Pros: design, isn’t drying or tightening to my lips, long-wearing, looks efficient on the lips, true matte coverage on the lips, wide range of colors

Hello girls!

I’m continuing to restock my lippie collection. It happened that I like matte lipsticks more than any other textures. But it’s a well-known fact that matte lipsticks are very finicky. So the search of the perfect matte liquid lipstick can be really endless.

So my review is dedicated to the matte liquid lipstick by Jeffree Star. This brand is famous for its outrageous and salty launches. In the collection there are some bold and brave colors. But still there are also rather wearable ones, even for an everyday wear.

General product info:

Full name: Velour Liquid Lipstick by Jeffree Star

Price: $21

Size: 5.6 ml

Shade: CHECKMATE;

All in all there are 32 shades in the main collection. There are bold as well as nude shades there. I’d advise you to visit the official website and have a look at them yourself, as almost every shade is worth your attention.

Design:

The tubes are color-coded with the content, which means that looking at the tube you’ll definitely know what color to expect on your lips. I haven’t noticed any fundamental color distortion, so nothing to worry about here. What’s more the official site offers swatches of every shade too.

The distinguishing feature of these lipsticks is the presence of stars on it. They are placed on the tube and on the box as well.

The name of the shade is given on the bottom of the box. Mine is called Checkmate, which is so true to the color, as it’ll be very easy to checkmate anybody with this lippie on. The most important thing is to make sure that the lippie is in its place.

The product is placed in a compact tube. Usually I meet liquid lipsticks packed into prolonged shaped tubes, while the Jeffree Star lippie looks better to my taste. I presume that the smaller the tube is, the easier it becomes to take with me.

The applicator is doe-foot though it isn’t easy to maneuver around to outline my lips. By the way, the applicator is furry.

Consistency, shade and aroma:

The lippie has a creamy consistency. It starts to dry out right after application yet it takes time to dry down completely. So after application it’s better not to close your lips together.

The pigmentation is good. I haven’t noticed any patchy application or anything. The color totally hides my natural lip color. One layer is enough for me, no need to build up the coverage.

The lipstick has a pleasant fruity aroma. It resembles a chewing gum aroma. It isn’t potent and fades after the application.

The color is red, scarlet red maybe. It’s very bright and packed with pigment. In some light it becomes more carrot-orange. I really like this feature about it, as I was looking for such a color for a very long time.

After drying out the color looks like this:

Impressions of use:

The greatest thing about this lippie for me is its comfortable feel while wear. It doesn’t dry out my lips or make them look tightened. Sometimes I can even forget that I wear lipstick. But still not everything is so bright. The thing is that the lippie requires some time to dry down. And before that it’s a crime to touch anything with my lips, as the product will stain everything out there. After drying down, the product sets and will stay in place without fading even after a meal.

Application. If you got used to liquid lipstick application, then there’ll be no problems for you. But if you’re a newbie then the application might take longer. Remember the way the product looks straight after the application, the same it’ll look during the wear, so it’s very important to be neat from the very beginning as it’ll be almost impossible to correct the mishaps later. I guess a lip pencil will help you. As for me I haven’t found the right colored lip pencil to pair with this lippie so I have to get by without it.

The finish is totally matte. I like this effect very much. But the fine lines are defined, that’s true. Whether it’s a con or a pro, decide for yourself.

The color is very bright and I presume some people may find it unacceptable. But I like it and I can even wear it in daytime when I want to put an accent on my lips. In my opinion it’ll look gorgeous on tanned or swarthy girls.

As for the removal of the product, I can say that it’s better to opt for a special makeup remover or oil. Removing it isn’t easy, be ready for it.

At the moment this lippie is my fave among matte lipsticks. Even though there are some disadvantages about it, it’s still less problematic than many others that I have.

All in all I’m very happy to meet this new for me line of liquid lipsticks. Highly recommended.

Thanks for those who read my review!!! Have a joyful shopping day!!!
