For a long time I wouldn't dare to buy these so hyped highlighters by Becca. You see, I used to think that a 50ml bottle is too much for me. I’m not a makeup artist, after all, I’m just a makeup junkie. Later, when I actually decided to try one of these highlighters I faced another problem - which one to choose: powder pressed or liquid highlighter.
Visiting the Becca official website, I found the right answer to my question immediately. I saw the limited edition of the Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid Highlighter retailing along with the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter. So, they are actually the heroes of my review!
First of all, I was hooked on the small packages which meant a cheaper price. Secondly, the price wasn’t too hefty. And the third is that the set offered two products at once, pressed powder as well as liquid highlighters together. I opted for the Opal shade for me.
Here’s what they say on the official website:
A dewy liquid luminizer for a natural, effortless glow.
Soft focus lighting in a bottle, BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfector grants all complexions an enviable, lit-from-within lustre - subtly illuminating and perfecting, without a trace of tell-tale glitter. Ultra-lightweight and skin-friendly, this dewy, opalescent priming potion is infused with skin-friendly ingredients – antioxidant vitamins A, B, D and E to ward against the daily damage wrought by free radicals – alongside conditioning avocado oil, soothing aloe vera and anti-inflammatory witch hazel, to nourish and hydrate skin whilst perfecting.
As for the color I can state the following. The Moonstone color will be the most flattering against fair skin in winter or when you’re not tanned. As for the Opal shade (like mine), it’ll be fine against tanned skin and for summer skin and season. The Opal shade won’t look good over fair skin, I think.
A few words about the outer appearance and the packaging. Of course, the full-sized products have better looking packaging but my products are also packed well into a simple and plastic containers. (The full-sized pressed powder highlighter looks like a flying saucer and of course it looks more luxury and expensive). The liquid highlighter looks almost the same as its big brother. The only difference is in the pump dispenser. The full sized bottle has a pump while the mini has an applicator wand, as of a liquid lipstick. By the way, it’s noteworthy that the the applicator is very convenient to use. Even though it’s less hygienic than a pump dispenser. At the same time, the mini is more travel-friendly and it doesn’t take up too much space in my beauty bag.
And now a few words about the products themselves. Well, get ready to read a lot of rave words and praises.
What a glow, I have to say!
Texture, oh my God! Both products show a delicate soft glowing effect, as though creating a dewy finish on my skin. At the same time the glow is so gentle and delicate. (Unlike of the famous MaryLou highlighter, though).
So girls, if you’re the same makeup junkie as I am, then this duo is definitely for you…
