Today I want to bring you my review of the new autumn launch by Maybelline The Burgundy Bar.
Let’s start from the most interesting - the shades.
The palette houses 12 shades: starting from the dark brown and finishing with the white shade. There are shimmer shades, glitter and matte textures in the palette.
All the colors are well pigmented and they blend out with ease. The shades are matchy, so you can easily combine the colors and create different makeups. I think that these shades will be especially liked by girls with fair eyes.
I liked all the shades from the palette, especially the burgundy one. All the shades, except matte, shine beautifully in the sun, as well as in artificial light.
Using the red-pink shade accompanied with the brown shade, you can easily create evening makeup in burgundy shades.
Advantages. The products apply well on the lids as they have a very pleasant buttery texture. They don’t crease or fall out and in general perform well during the day.
Disadvantages. Here I want to mention the unreliable packaging. The plastic compact is very flimsy. You should be very careful with it, especially while traveling to keep the contents safe. And my personal quirk is that I wish there was an inside mirror but at the same time I understand that the palette wouldn’t look so pretty if there was a mirror but for this beauty, I forgive this palette.
I have problematic skin, so buying eyeshadows I’ve never questioned myself if the ingredients are good or bad there. So I googled and found out the following. But the list of ingredients itself at first:
Talc,Synthetic Fluorphlogopite,Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate,Silica,Magnesium Myristate,Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate,Stearyl Dimethicone,Nylon-12,Alumina,Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate,Caprylyl Glycol,Diisostearyl Malate,Dimethicone,Dehydroacetic Acid,Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate,Octadecene,Phenoxyethanol,Calcium Sodium Borosilicate,Hexylene Glycol,Aqua / Water,Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate,Tin Oxide,Maltodextrin,Stearic Acid,Palmitic Acid,Lauric Acid, [+/- May Contain,Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499 / Iron Oxides,Mica,Ci 77891 / Titanium Dioxide,Ci 77713 / Magnesium Carbonate,Ci 77266 [Nano] / Black 2,Ci 77007 / Ultramarines,Ci 75470 / Carmine,Ci 77510 / Ferric Ferrocyanide,Ci 77288 / Chromium Oxide Greens,Ci 77742 / Manganese Violet] (F.I.L. D185942/2 ).
There are some bad ingredients here - like Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Stearyl Dimethicone, Aluminum Starch, Caprylyl Glycol, Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol and Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate.
Comparison with the Maybelline The rock Nudes
If we compare these two palettes then we’ll see that the Burgundy Bar palette is more warm-toned and has brighter shades. And I think that the quality of the products has become better in comparison with the previous palette.
The Rock Nudes has more matte textures, while the Burgundy Bar comprises of 10 shimmer shades and only 2 matte ones. The brush and the packaging remained the same.
All in all, I’m happy with the purchase. This is the very case when the price/quality correlation sounds to the place. Even though there are some obvious disadvantages to the product like packaging and list of ingredients (they are really minor for me) I still want to give this Maybelline Burgundy Bar Eyeshadow Palette 5 stars.
