I was waiting for this makeup base for so long! And when I actually got it, I knew that waiting for it was no way in vain.
I fell for the concept of the product immediately, as the applicator infused eyeshadow primers really appeal to me. I like this form more than the jar primers because the jars seem to be less hygienic.
Unlike my first tacky eyeshadow base by NYX, this one turned out to be completely different. But first things first, so let’s move on.
The product has a light beige shade and when I apply it over my lids, they don’t look like they are covered with a concealer. Consistency-wise, the base reminds me of a cream mixed with some oil. The product is unscented.
This is the base to lengthen the wear time of your eyeshadow, rather than making the colors pop and vibrant. However, if you use such a disastrous eyeshadow palette as NYX Dream Catcher, it still won’t be able to save the situation here. Yet it still will make the wear time a little bit longer but not as much as the other tacky eyeshadow primer by NYX.
For an example, I swatched the NYX Lid Lingerie with a brush over my primed and non-primed skin. And here’s the result:
I can freely assess it with 5 stars, because this base does its job flawlessly! My makeup is there the entire day, even though I have hooded eyes.
At the same time there’s no drying out of the skin or tightening feelings as from the Too Faced or Wet n Wild eyeshadow primers, for instance. I adore this NYX HD Eyeshadow Base because it’s a good inbetweener when my eyelids aren’t dried out or shining with oil.
It’s a magical product for the money it costs! It’ll be enough to use within years and I wish this eyeshadow base was the first one that I tried. In that case, I wouldn’t have to bother with any other eyeshadow primers ever.
