Hey there!
Recently I became hooked on my skin care and especially love testing The Ordinary products.
I was using the serums by the brand but it always felt as though there was something missing. I wanted a product to be more effective and tingling maybe. So this is how I actually decided to buy the “scariest 30%” facial peeling mask. I’ve never used acids in my skincare routine before so I was very interested to see the results.
General information:
Size - 30ml
pH level - 3.5 - 3.7
Expires within 12 months
Made in Canada.
Where to buy - you can buy this peeling on the official The Ordinary website or from many other e-shops.
Packaging:
The bottle was packed in a matte cardboard box.
Bottle:
The bottle has pleasant looking and minimal matte design.
Inside you’ll find a glass dropper to control the amount of the product.
Ingredients:
Glycolic Acid, Aqua (Water), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Daucus Carota Sativa Extract, Propanediol, Cocamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Salicylic Acid, Potassium Citrate, Lactic Acid, Tartaric Acid, Citric Acid, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Tasmannia Lanceolata Fruit/Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Xanthan gum, Polysorbate 20, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol.
The product is water-based. It doesn’t contain any alcohol, oil, silicone, gluten, soybeans or nuts (this is so important for people suffering from allergies). The brand doesn’t test on animals and there are no animal product to their formulas.
Alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA) exfoliate the skin's topmost surface for a brighter and more even appearance. Beta hydroxyl acids (BHA) also exfoliate the skin with an extended function to help clear pore congestion. This combined 29% AHA/BHA solution offers deeper exfoliation to help fight visible blemishes and for improved skin radiance. The formula also improves the appearance of skin texture and reduces the look of fine lines with continued use.
This formula contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time. This formula is further supported with a crosspolymer form of hyaluronic acid for comfort, Vitamin B5 to assist healing and black carrot as an antioxidant.
Peeling:
The peeling is of bright beetroot color. It looks as though I applied some blood over my face.
This treatment exfoliates at multiple levels in the skin to fight acne and restore an even, radiant tone. It also smooths the skin’s texture and reduces the look of fine lines with regular use.
How to use (from the manufacturer):
Apply a small amount to clean, dry skin. Leave the mask on for no more than 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
This product should not be used more than twice per week. We recommend applying it at night. This product should not be used on sensitive, peeling, or compromised skin.
Alpha hydroxy acids may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun. Use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product.
And now some quick directions from me:
- wash your face and dry with a towel;
- apply the product with a thin coat all over your face (and neck if needed), avoiding eyes, mouth and brows
- once you applied the peeling set a timed on your cell for 10 minutes;
- when 10 minutes passed wipe your skin off with wet wipes or any other disposal tissues;
- only after that you can wash your face with water.
I highly recommend you to wipe your skin with tissues to avoid the product getting into your eyes while washing off. (this is very important when you apply the peeling on your forehead).
My impressions of use of The Ordinary treatment:
My skin is normal but sometimes it becomes inflamed when my hormones aren’t okay. And those hormones-provoked blemishes always leave red spots afterwards. Besides I have a scar on my forehead. This product was actually bought to fight this scar most of all. The first use was rough as my skin was tingling a lot because it didn’t face any acids before, I think.
I applied the product with a thin coat all over my face and I applied a bigger layer to my scar.
I left the product on for 10 minutes and used it once in two weeks, as the manufacturer advises. After each use I applied a moisturizing cream or serum overnight. I haven’t noticed any skin flaking or anything after the use of this peeling. I can only say that I noticed my skin improvements like: it has become more even, the scar on my forehead isn’t as obvious as before and in general my complexion looks fine even without any makeup on. Red spots became paler though they haven’t vanished completely.
It is noteworthy - ALWAYS APPLY SPF INFUSED PRODUCTS if you used this product before!
They don’t recommend using this treatment if you have thin or sensitive skin. I also want to talk you off using it after face exfoliating or if you have skin lesions or wounds.
I’m delighted with my purchase and most of all I’m delighted that such a great affordable product works really well.
Thanks for your attention!
