Here’s my review of the new lip product by Maybelline. Recently there’s always bad luck waiting for me when I buy a new lipstick, especially when it comes to the Maybelline lipsticks.
It’s difficult for me to pass by nude liquid lipsticks, I guess that matte nude lipsticks is my favorite cosmetic segment, except for lip balms maybe. That’s rather obvious because if we speak about a good matte liquid lipstick it means almost no touch ups during the day.
Maybelline SuperStay Matte INK Lipstick has a rather wide color selection. I have already decided to give a go to one more gray-lilac lipstick shade from this collection.
Price: $8-10 depending on the place where you shop.
The spending of the product is more than average. I deem that’s because of the rather odd-shaped applicator.
I find it convenient to apply and contour my lips with it though there is a problem of all the product just sitting in a little applicator dip so I have to dip it in the tube for 7-9 times! It’s so annoying, especially when I don’t have much time to apply my lip makeup.
Looking through my arsenal of lipsticks I found out that there isn’t such a lipstick that I could wear any time and for any occasion. So I came to the conclusion that I needed some tender-nude and pink lipsticks. That’s why I opted for the #10 Dreamer shade in the store.
But I had no idea that it would be so vibrant and would even look barbie pink on my lips. By the way this shade reminds me of the NYX Soft Matte Tokyo and Istanbul shades.
The texture is creamy and tacky. I find it tough to apply the product with a sponge as the formula dries down quickly leaving a matte-rubber finish. Interesting, isn't it?
This is the first time when I see such a finish. And of course I want to show you the way it looks on my lips.
The shade isn’t bad. But I’m a little bit fed up with it, since I have been using the Tokyo and Istanbul shades by NYX for a couple of years already.
On the swatch the color might look warmer, but on the lips it becomes more cool-toned as the natural lip pigment is always cooler than the skin undertones. As I’ve already mentioned, the finish is matte and as though rubberized.
The lipstick applies with a thick coat but it can show the lips relief. The wear time is up to 7 hours but it comes off with small bits from the lips. I can remove it fully only with my cleansing oil, as no face wash or micellar water can do anything with it.
What I didn’t like about this product is that I can dreadfully feel its presence on my lips. What’s more the formula makes my lips stick together. I always experience that awful feeling when I wear this lipstick. It doesn’t even let me speak freely.
These facts are worth the two stars, aren’t they? But I found a way to tame the product and I guess it might be useful for you if you face the same problems as I do. The secret is that I powder my lips with a transparent powder in ten minutes after the application. And that’s it, the tacky and sticky feel is gone. And the powder doesn’t affect the wear time which is great.
My meeting with the Maybelline SuperStay Matte INK is difficult to call good. But I found a way to use and wear it. And I guess I can give it three stars and a thumb up for the wear time. There are always some cons to any product and it’s only up to you to decide whether to buy it or not.
